2. I chose this book because to me it seems very interesting and it is also a romance novel which is always something that interests me.
3. So far I am enjoying the book very much. At first I wasn’t sure if it was really quite my style, but as I read more and more I am beginning to like the style of the book, I think it is makes the book more interesting with the fact that it includes flashbacks, to me this makes the novel more catching and easier to keep me interested.
4. So far I have only read about 2 ½ chapters of the book but they are already beginning to get interesting.
5. So far all of the characters have been introduced. One of the main characters Zenia who is a college friend who passed away. The book takes place in Toronto. The three friends of Zenia, tony, Chairis and Roz. All I have noticed so far is how the three friends of Zenia do not seem to like her very much as she did some pretty horrible things by stealing their men.
6. So far I see the theme of the book to be complicated, as all these women have a complicated relationship with one another. I also see a theme of hatred starting to grow upon the book as I read more and more. The three women, Tony, Charis and Roz do not seem to like Zenia even though she is dead. There seems to be a lot of frustration between these three friends even though they are no longer friends with Zenia.
7. So far as a secondary source on The Robber Bride I have found an article about the development of the character Zenia. This article speaks about how all of the charters had known each other since the 70’s and how now in the 90’s the three remaining friends of Zenia, Charis, Tony, and Roz still remain friends. To me this article is interesting because it shows how other people interpret a book, and it is interesting to see how the main characters were developed, and how their role was developed.
8. "If she were six feet tall and built like a blockhouse; if she had hips. Then she'd be threatening, then she'd be an Amazon. It's the incongruity that grants her permission. A breath would blow you away, they beam down at her silently. You wish, thinks Tony, smiling up. Many have blown." (Part 2, page 24) This quote speaks to me because it is intensely describing how Tony feels about someone else, how being so big and strong can be so empowering to someone. How just something as little as height, or figure shape can be intimidating. This is very interesting because someone can be tall, wide, short, skinny, and they can have a specific quality to them that can make them intimidating to someone else. But to anyone, it can mean absolutely nothing.
